Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is a NDT testing process whereby mechanical vibrations are generated in tested material through the application of an ultrasonic transducer.  Any discontinuity within the volume being inspected would either reflect or disperse the ultrasonic energy and defects are identified by the reflected or attenuated sound beam.  Interpretation and evaluation of the received sound pulse enables the technician to detect discontinuities in the material and to establish the position, length and depth of the indication found.
