Overview
Persons intending to complete the SAIW Inspection diploma should apply for this course as it is an essential module for this Diploma as we as for the Competent Persons PV (unlimited certification). The Process Plant Inspection course builds on pre-existing inspection knowledge and is focused on those areas of knowledge which are needed specifically for process plant equipment.
ACCESS CONDITIONS
Candidates with a SAIW Level 2 Welding Inspector qualification, having completed the ASME code for inspectors qualification and having some NDT knowledge should apply for this course. Further information should be obtained in the SAIW Inspection page by candidates wanting to pursue a career in process plant inspection. Candidates aiming for Competent Person certification have to complete the Foundation and Core Weeks of the Competent Person PV programee before attending this course.

- API 576 Pressure Relief Devices
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL :
- Be aware of the functions of process plant equipment and its design
- Understand the causes of failure mechanisms arising in process industries
- Know the requirements for inspection of tanks, piping and pressure vessels
- Appreciate the advantages and limitations of NDT test methods
- Understand the requirements for repair or modification of a plant
- Be able to fulfil their role in life assessment and risk based inspections
- Be able to report inspections that are suitable for future assessments of plant equipment
TRAINING EVALUATION
Closed and/or open book examinations are conducted at the end of each module
