International Welder
SAIW uses the International Institute of Welding (IIW) International Welder programme to train welders. The graduating welder receives a qualification diploma and code certification to ASME IX and EN 287. Trainees may enter the programme at the beginning or if they can demonstrate their skill at an intermediate or high level they are able to by-pass lower level practical modules. The course has three levels of theory training. Each level is associated with a practical qualification level.
SAIW is also able to offer customised training programmes for individuals with specific requirements.
Practical training time may vary depending on capability of the individual student.
Appropriate health, physical and mental capability is assumed to gain entry to the course. Access to higher levels is allowed providing the candidate passes the relevant theoretical examination and successfully demonstrates the required practical skill.
This IIW course consists of theoretical education, practical training and examination and comprises of three levels of education and training. These modules consist of ‘International Fillet Welder’, International Plate Welder’ and ‘International Pipe Welder’.
Training is carried out using carbon steel materials and consumables. Should the candidate wish to specialise in alloy steels, stainless steels or aluminium a surcharge is added to the training cost to cover the additional cost of materials and consumables.
