Lecturer in Non Destructive Testing
The Institute is South Africa’s primary training resource in NDT and has a vacancy for a NDT Lecturer. The successful candidate will be responsible for lecturing courses in non destructive testing methods and should be an expert in ultrasonic testing capable of introducing specialist courses in Phased Array and TOFD. There are excellent opportunities for personal development.
Requirements for the position are:
- A relevant tertiary engineering science qualification
- NDT qualifications to at least Level 2 in RT, PT, ET and MT and Level 3 in UT
- Solid practical experience of the application of NDT in industry
- Experience with the application of Phased Array and TOFD test methods will be an advantage
- Ability to communicate and interact with students and clients

MATERIAL LABORATORY SUPERINTENDENT
The Institute’s Technical Services function is in the process of installing new equipment in its technology centre to offer testing of welds and materials. The position will involve developing the test laboratory into a leading facility nationally recognized as a centre of expertise. The successful candidate will develop the activities of the technology centre and will be a key contributor to achieving the aims of the institute.
Requirements:
• Tertiary education in an engineering discipline. BSc(Eng) or B.Tech would be advantageous.
• International Welding Specialist (IWS) qualification or higher will be preferred
• Solid practical experience in a material testing environment
• Experience in a welding fabrication environment would be preferred
• Ability to communicate and interact with clients and students

WELDING QUALITY SYSTEM ASSESSOR
The position carries primary responsibility for managing the Institute’s International Institute of Welding ISO 3834 Certification programme for welding fabrication companies. The appointed person will have a strong background in welding and fabrication technology, good knowledge of quality assurance and control programmes and strong administration skills. The job responsibilities include developing training courses and seminars which support the certification programme. In each case the successful candidate will be a team player and bring a mature outlook to the position.
Requirements:
• Tertiary education in a relevant field of study preferably at degree or National Diploma level
• IWE, IWT, IWI-C welding qualifications or equivalent
• Substantial experience in the welding and fabrication industry
• Experience in the development and application of Quality Assurance systems with auditing experience
• Ability to interact with industry clients
• Leadership and administration skills

The positions will suit mature candidates with an interest in educating trainees in skills which are critical for development of South Africa.
