SAIW is a technical institute whose main function is to facilitate technology transfer in the fields of welding and associated technologies by means of training courses, public lectures, technical publications, technical consultancy, a library and an information service.

SAIW endeavours to establish standards for training, education, qualification and certification to promote excellence in welding and associated technologies.

It is the policy of SAIW to provide a credible, consistent and internationally recognized range of training, qualification, certification and consultancy services to personnel and industries utilizing welding and associated technologies.
